Craig Bellamy Foundation (CBF) started its annual nation-wide league for Under 12 and14 categories at Parade Grounds in Freetown over the weekend.
In his statement, league manager Mohamed Sowe said the league is a scouting platform for young players in the country and thanked the betting company, Mercury International for sponsoring the league.
Sowe said "such help will prove very significant in the lives of the young players especially in their academic work as each of the players participating in our competitions will receive a scholarship."
CBF Development Officer David Browning said that without the sponsorship of Mercury International this season’s league will not go ahead. He thanked the company "for such a novelty towards the growth of football in the country" and called on the players to put their best to enter the academy and improve on their school work.
In the Under 12 category Malcolm won 1-0 against Promising Stars, whilst in the Under 14 category Promising Stars defeated Malcolm 2-1.
