Bo Rangers Football Club has expressed concern over some social media posts alleging among other things that star player Musa Noah Kamara ‘Tombo’ has caught the attention of a South African Football Club. This was made known to the public in a press statement issued by the club on Friday 15th July, 2022.

According to the statement, some of the posts stated that Musa was already on his way to South Africa for trials and eventually securing a contract with the prospective club, but the Rangers Chairman, Babadi Kamara withheld his passport.

The Club found those social media posts to be very disturbing and unfortunate and saw them as a deliberate attempt to drive a wedge between them and the player. They also referred to the posts as wanting to dent the hard-earned respect and admiration which their chairman enjoys amongst the football family.

The statement said the posts lacked professionalism and media ethics and were aimed at not only to unsettle the player, but to also cause ill-will and disaffection for their club and chairman in the eyes of right-thinking members of the society. The club in the statement stated that they take great exception to the social media posts especially as they look forward to kick-start the 2022/2023 premiere league season while at the same time preparing their team to respectfully represent the country in their maiden continental competition- the Confederation of African Football Champions League.

For the records they emphatically stated that their executive chairman has at no point in time withheld Kamara’s passport for whatever reason whatsoever. They pointed out that any insinuation in that respect underscores the prejudices he continues to be subjected to by some ill-intentioned individuals in the society.

The club unequivocally stated that, they have neither received, nor been intimated of any interest arising in respect of the player from any football team in the world. They further emphasized that the said player is a legally contracted player of their club and the said contract he signed with them still remains.

They affirmed that in as much as they are not opposed to holding discussions aimed at severing ties with the player if their demands are met, they are however mindful that such engagement should be done within the confines of the law.

They allayed the fears of their fans in particular and the football fraternity in general that Kamara is still a Rangers player and that his status has not changed. They further assured everyone that they will explore every legitimate means at their disposal to protect their interest in the said player including instituting legal action if necessary.

Rangers won the recent Sierra Leone Premiere League.
