Bo Rangers edge past bitter rivals Eagles

  • Bo Rangers

Bo Rangers kept up the momentum following the opening of their clubhouse on Friday by beating south-east regional rivals Kamboi Eagles 1-O in Bo.

The goal came in the second half after star striker Musa Tombo was brought down in the box. He converted the goal by volleying into the left corner of the net.

The match was held up for about 5 minutes in the second half after Kamboi Eagles fans pelted missiles at one of the referee assistants over what they say was the referee's failure to grant then a penalty.

Bo Rangers also had a penalty shout slapped down by referee Raymond Coker.

The referee was pelted with missiles as he was being escorted out of the field by police officers at the end of the match

Some fans expressed disappointment at the quality of the pitch.

It was an age-old rivalry between the two sides with Kamboi Eagles having led the show over the years. Bo Rangers having attracted a dynamic management in the past two seasons and with the injection of resources into the team, very talented players have found Rangers an attractive and reliable preposition. And now with the club’s latest acquisition of a multi- facility complex, the first to do so in Sierra Leone’s football history, it will be a more appealing destination for many players for years to come. Whether the club would be able to translate the off-field development into success in the field of play remains to be seen.
