Budapest Rally back in Sierra Leone

Sierra Leone is set to be the finishing line for the 2022 Budapest-Bamako-F rally from the 6th to 8th November, this year.

A statement from the Ministry of Tourism and Cultural Affairs, says the Budapest rally  dubbed to be the world’s largest amateur vehicular rally and Africa’s biggest humanitarian event, will comprise  600 (six hundred) participants with 250 (two hundred and fifty) vehicles and 350 (three hundred and fifty) motorbikes. The convoy will arrive in Sierra Leone through Kambia where they are to spend the night of 6th November.

They are expected to move to Bureh Beach on the 7th November where a beach carnival would be organized in their honor.

The release pointed out that the team from Budapest is expected to drive through strategic areas such as Waterloo, Up Gun, Kissy Road, Goderich Street, Rokel Street, Siaka Stevens Street, Sanders Street, Saint John, Savage Street, Congo Cross, Wilkinson Road, and Lumley Beach Road before finally arriving at their finish line of Jigibonta Restaurant on the 8th November. President Julius Maada Bio is expected to receive them at the finish line.

The release reiterated that the team would sell their vehicles and motorbikes while in Freetown.

The visit of the Budapest-Bamako-Freetown rally aims at making Sierra Leone attractive as a tourist destination, create a platform for cultural exchange, facilitate foreign direct investment and provide jobs for the youth, women and other vulnerable groups in the country.
