Sierra Leonean international Buya Turay is a target for Scottish giants, Rangers, a Scottish news outlet, Daily Record, has reported.

Turay who is currently playing on loan to Swedish champions, Djurgaden from Belgian side St. Truden, is among a list of five players that Rangers could target to strengthen their squad all-round the pitch.

Rangers are expected to part ways with striker Alfredo Morelos at the end of the season. Another striker, Jermain Defoe, is 37. These two make a case for Rangers coach, Steven Gerrard to move for a versatile striker like Turay.

Turay, 25 played a crucial role in Djurgaden’s charge for the title last season. He scored 15 goals in 29 league games in 2019, averaging a goal every two matches in the league.

He was also the top scorer in the league.

Last week, speaking on the rumors, his agent, Numukeh Turunka, told a Swedish press that the interest from Rangers is just one of many that the player has had.

“There has been a lot of interest from many clubs. The interest is huge and everyone knows that Buya Turay is a fantastic player who works hard,” Turunka explained, adding:

“There are many clubs that have been there but we will see what happens this summer, but right now the situation is tricky in general considering the coronavirus which has affected the world and football severely.”

Turay spent the early stages of his career at Swedish minnows such as Juventus IF, Vasteras SK and AFC Eskilstuna.

His pace, dribbling and trickery has tipped him for a big move to Europe. But like so many other players, his momentum might be affected by the Coronavirus outbreak.

Football has been halted in Europe, with countries struggling to contain the virus.
