By Chernor Alimamy Kamara

The Confederation of African Football Association (CAF) has suspended Head Coach of FC Kallon, Mohamed Kallon and Team Doctor, Chernor Cidy Bah for their next four inter-club matches of CAF, for indiscipline.

The suspension came after FC Kallon’s confederation Cup away match defeat to Future FC of Egypt.

A release by the Sierra Leone Football Association (SLFA) on the 21st December, 2022, asserted that CAF’s decision to suspend Kallon and Bah was made final after the expiration of the deadline set for appeal.  It was noted that, the disciplinary board met on the 28th November, 2022 and took the decision to suspend Kallon and Bah.

The release further highlighted that, the board also decided to impose $10,000 (ten thousand United States dollars) financial sanction upon each of the two FC Kallon officials for what was referred to as their offensive behavior towards the referees of the match.

They are urged by CAF to pay the said amount within sixty days of the date of the 28th November, 2022 of which the decision was taken.

According to the match official, Kallon was said to have abused the referee during the match, for which he received two matching orders of yellow cards and automatically expelled as a result. The match official’s report also indicated that, he continued to insult the referee even after his expulsion.

Bah was also expelled at the end of the match for insulting the referees verbally.

Before their suspensions and fines, the decision was legally opened to be contested by the two suspended officials, but they failed to do so and hence the punishment was levied against them.

Kallon is no stranger to controversies in Salone football. The former Regina, Inter Milan , Monaco and Sierra Leone Captain had been arrested and questioned for more than seven hours by the Police in Freetown when he was alleged to had physically attacked and kicked the Former SLFA President, Isha Johansen at the Kingtom Football Academy.

He was later released on a Le 50 million (fifty million Old Leones) bail and his surety was asked to surrender his passport to the police before his release.
