Sierra Leone national female U-20 national team Sierra Queens who suffered an embarrassing defeat at the hands of the Falconet of Nigeria, are back in Freetown. Sierra Queens lost 10-0 in the preliminary rounds of the female World Cup qualifiers for Canada 2014.
Many fans who spoke to Politico said the defeat did not came as a surprise because "there is no active female league going on in Sierra Leone". They said SLFA's support for female had also steadily dwindled over the years.
The second leg of the tie is due in Freetown in a fortnight.
Sierra Leone's female team has never qualified for major competitions. Meanwhile the female U-17 side wills also engage Nigeria again to qualify for the female championship in scheduled for February 2014.
