FC Johansen Head Coach, Abdulai “Kaloga” Bah has called on fans to be patient with the team. Bah made the call in a pre-match press conference on the eve of their meeting with Old Edwardians
FC Johansen have struggled this season to take maximum points. Six games in to the new season and they haven’t won any - drawing four and losing two.
They are currently 11th in the league.
“We have to patient. FC Johansen is going through a total transformation. It took the last coach 7 years to put the last team together. We are developing a team here and it takes time,” he said.
Despite their results, the performance has been good. Last week they held FC Kallon to 0-0 score line. They have played three of last six season’s top six teams and have managed to keep clean sheet against all of them; Mighty Blackpool, Central Parade and FC Kallon.
Bah said most of their work must be done on the other end of the pitch; the attack.
“We have been working on finishing since the start of the season. We just need to score one and we believe more will come,” he said.
The winless run for FC Johansen has also raised questions about how much pressure the players are under to perform. But Samuel Bekoe, one of the star players of the team this season, said they were calm.
“I don’t think we are under any pressure; the league is just six games in. we will be under pressure as the season progress or when it ends,” the Ghanaian midfielder said.
Their opponents tonight (Friday January 24), have already lost two games in a row.
Bah said he knew Edwards would be desperate for a win against them.
“They’ve lost two matches and I know they will be desperate for result. We are cautious about that.”
“I am not worried about Old Edwardians. My focus is how we are going to approach this match, how we will set up, how we will organize,” he added.
