FC Kallon are through to the group stage of the Confederation of African Football (CAF) Cup after defeating Buffles Les Borgou of Benin 3-0 at the Samuel K Doe stadium in Liberia in the return leg on Saturday, where the match was played because of the renovation going on at the stadium in Freetown. They complete the duel 4-0 on aggregate after an earlier 1-0 away victory in Benin.
Kallon’s free flowing football saw their inform former East End Lions striker, Alie Conteh aka Nzozi netting a hat-trick in the game.
Conteh’s first goal came in the 44th minute of play, the second in the 65th and third in the 67th minute.
The Caviliers as they are nicknamed wasted several chances in the first half which would have seen a rout. The visitors, however, rallied for a consolation goal, but they couldn’t break the resilient Kallon defence.
They are now being managed by the club’s owner and former Sierra Leone National team skipper, Mohamed Kallon.
Kallon will now wait to know who they will face in the second round from the BIDCO Limited of Uganda and Future FC of Egypt encounter.
Stop Press! Bad news for Bo Rangers as they were knocked out in the preliminary stage of the CAF Club Champions competition. They were beaten 3-0 in Algeria by Belouzdad late Saturday evening. Rangers’ home leg played in Monrovia Liberia had ended 0-0.
