The Chief Executive Officer of Sheffield United Sierra Leone, presented the championship trophy to the Central One Football Association (COFA) over the weekend.
Fred Claye told his audience, "I had decided to quit football due to the problems surrounding the Sierra Leone Football Association (SLFA) in a bid to effect a change, nevertheless, I was inspired by the accolade given to me as SWASAL’s Sport’s Personality of the Year which injected a new blood into my vein".
Claye said he is now "fully involved in football activities again". When asked why he chose COFA, he said it was because of their "credibility, transparency and impartiality in running their league that’s what convinced him to work with them".
He said over the past years COFA has proved to the nation that "they are running one of the best local leagues in the country without any hindrance", he disclosed that the winner of this year’s competition will receive a cash prize that no other league winner has ever received in the history of COFA.
