Wife of the former president of Sierra Leone, Ahmad Tejan Kabbah has denied widespread rumours that her husband died today at a London hospital. Isatu Jabbie-Kabbah told Politico that the man who ruled the country for 11 years was responding "very well" to treatment at the London Clinic. Speaking from just outside the hospital Mrs Kabbah said "it is all a lie and I still do not know the source or motive of it all". She said she had been receiving calls from all quarters on the matter. The former president has been ill for some time now and had been admitted at the Choitram Hospital in Freetown before he was flown to London for further medical care. It is not immediately clear what the 81-year-old is suffering from. He was elected president of Sierra Leone in 1996. He was reelected in 2002 and stepped down in 2007 after his mandatory two terms. He handed over to current president Ernest Bai Koroma after elections his party lost. Politico Online 21/09/13
