Freetown High Court Judge Monfred Sesay has sent to prison one Abu Bakarr Conteh for 12 months after he was found guilty of housebreaking and larceny.
He was accused of entering his cousin Lilian Tenneh Conteh’s dwelling house at Kossoh Town and robbing her of properties valued at New Leones7,550 (seven thousand, five hundred and fifty).
Conteh was accused of stealing New Leones 2,850 (two thousand, eight hundred and fifty New Leones), one Samsung Tablet, a DVD player, a Backpack, two pairs of Slippers, and two packets of Artificial Hair.
He was alleged to have on 25th June 2022, broken into the house of Ms. Conteh whilst she was away at work.
She returned to find her place completely ransacked with items strewn all over.
Ms Conteh informed her neighbours about it and she was informed that the convict was the last person seen at her place.
Justice Sesay pointed out that youths do not want to work and are just lazy and at the end of the day they steal from hard-working people.
Decent hard work pays and not fraudulence, the judge pointed out.
20 year- old Conteh in pleading for mercy confirmed the cousin relationship with the complainant. He said he wanted to go back to school and also take care of his siblings.
