Magistrate Alford Fidawi in Pujehun has committed to high court the case of an alleged sexual penetration involving a 31-year-old man.
According to the prosecution, the accused on the 8 March this year sexually abused a two-year old girl.
Magistrate Fidawi said that after looking at the evidence he had no powers to pass a verdict on the said matter. He described the alleged abuse on the girl as an unnecessary assault and granted bail to the accused in the sum of Le 10 million and one surety in like sum.
The accused has been under preliminary investigation for two counts of indecent assault and cruelty to a child.
In a separate but similar matter, two cases of alleged sexual penetration were also prosecuted involving men aged 38 years and 20 years with victims aged three and 12 years respectively.
The case of the 38-year-old has been remitted to the Zimmi magistrate court which Magistrate Fidawi said was as a result of the fact that all the witnesses might find it difficult to attend court in Pujehun since they were residing in Gendema in Sorogbeima chiefdom.
However, the matter of the 20-year-old accused on the 12-year-old was adjourned to the 12 October.
Also three accused persons, aged 18, 19 and 23 years on an alleged theft case were brought before Magistrate Fidawi on the 14 September, 2013. Their two-count charge borders on conspiracy, office breaking and larceny of school materials at the Barrie Islamic Secondary School and the Pujehun District Committee(PDC) Primary School, Potoru estimated at Le 6.5 million.
They were also granted bail each in the sum of le 6 million. The matter was adjourned to 12 October.
