The Managing Director of the Sport-betting company, Mercury International has said that grassroots football in Sierra Leone generates a lot of "passionate"’ amongst people in the country especially the young.
Martin Michael said the development of youth football was important as the future of the country’s football rests with the youth. He said "I came to the Camp Diva Grand Final at Kroobay to underline my passion for youth football". According to Michael, "the greatest footballing nations of the world have put more premium on youth football and this has yielded dividends for them to achieve greatness".
He said he wanted to see young players who were not involved in the Premier League taking active part in community leagues.’’
The Mercury boss said his company's interest is in grasroots football and promised that "we will continue supporting it so that our country can have "better Under-17 and 20, national teams that can form the backbone of the senior national team in the near future.
