At the ongoing treason trial, Justice Komba Kamanda has slated Tuesday 18 June as the day on which defence lawyers are to make their oral no-case submissions and for the prosecution to also make an oral reply.
Justice Kamanda said that date was for lawyers who have already made written no-case submissions. He said even those that have no submitted papers should be able to make their submissions.
This announcement on Thursday June 13 2024 came after the Lead state prosecutor for Isaac Yusif Sesay informed the court that the prosecution had in compliance with the court ruling, made a written reply to no-case submissions for six accused persons including Bai Mahmoud Bangura as the 8th accused and the second accused, Mohamed Jalloh.
The first accused, Amadu Koita Makalo is among others whose lawyers elected to open their defence instead. Koita and 11 others are standing trial on 20 counts ranging from treason, murder, shooting with intent to commit murder in connection with the November 26th failed coup in Freetown.
