Police in Pujehun have confirmed the discovery yesterday of the remains of a 28-year-old woman, Mamie Kawa found dead on a footpath around Mapco area by Nganyahun Road in Malen chiefdom, six miles from the chiefdom headquarter town of Sahn.
In what the constabulary suspect to be a ritual murder, pregnant Mamie's private part, her sole and palm were removed. Her stomach was also slit open with her foetus suspected to have also been removed.
The near-decomposed body was discovered by two old women.
Three arrests have been made including the deceased's boyfriend and her father.
The police Crime Officer Sgt David Hollist told Politico that the discovery was reported to their division by the Chiefdom Speaker, Robert Moigua adding that a post mortem was being carried out.
Sgt Hollist said police would soon visit the scene for further investigations and referred to the death as a "ritual murder".
He disclosed to Politico that the crime rate in Pujehun was on the increase and that no efforts would be spared in their investigations to bring the perpetuators to justice.
