SANUSI COVID-19 indices update (19/10/20)

Sierra Leone recorded 0.43% and 0.40% increase in COVID-19 total cases and total deaths respectively in 48 hours, from Thursday (10:00 am) to Saturday (10:00 am).

In comparison, Sierra Leone’s increase in total cases was lower compared to Benin (0.73%), Burkina Faso (1.65%), Cape Verde (2.10%), Guinea (0.95%), Mali (0.78%), Nigeria (0.59%), Togo (2.22%), Manor River Union or MRU (0.51%), the Economic Community of West African States or ECOWAS (0.50%), Africa (1.26%), Europe (5.20%), North America (1.68%), South America (1.40%), Asia (1.63%) and World (2.16%). However, increase in total cases in Ivory Coast (0.29%), Gambia (0.19%), Ghana (0.10%), Liberia (0.36%), Niger (0.33%) and Senegal (0.24%) were lower compared to Sierra Leone. Guinea-Bissau recorded zero increase in total cases.

Cape Verde (3.80%) recorded the highest increase in total deaths compared to Burkina Faso (3.17%), Ivory Coast (0.83%), Nigeria (0.27%), Senegal (0.32%), MRU (0.29%), ECOWAS (0.37%), Africa (1.19%), Europe (1.17%), North America (0.86%), South America (1.10%), Asia (1.44%) and the World (1.11%). Benin, Gambia, Ghana, Guinea, Guinea-Bissau, Liberia, Mali, Niger, Sierra Leone and Togo recorded zero increase in total deaths over the period.

Moreover, Sierra Leone’s increase in total recoveries was lower compared to Burkina Faso (8.67%), Cape Verde (2.47%), Ivory Coast (0.41%), Gambia (2.08%), Guinea (0.58%), Liberia (0.80%), Mali (0.51%), Senegal (0.98%), Togo (1.83%), MRU (0.48%), ECOWAS (0.54%), Africa (0.99%), Europe (1.85%), North America (2.15%), South America (1.50%), Asia (1.90%) and the World (1.80%). Increase in recoveries in Ghana (0.12%), Niger (0.18%) and Nigeria (0.31%) was lower compared to Sierra Leone. Benin and Guinea-Bissau recorded zero increase in total recoveries.
