SANUSI COVID-19 indices update (24/05/21)

Sierra Leone recorded 0.34% and 0.29% increase in COVID-19 total infections and total recoveries respectively in 144 hours, from Tuesday (10:00 am) to Sunday (10:00 am).

In comparison, Sierra Leone’s percentage increase in total infections was lower compared to Benin (0.38%), Cape Verde (3.24%),  Ivory Coast (0.60%), Guinea (0.69%), Liberia (0.52%), Niger (0.56%), Senegal (0.56%), Togo (0.63%), the Manor River Union or MRU (0.61%), the Economic Community of West African States or ECOWAS (0.49%), Africa (1.16%), North America (0.54%), South America (2.87%), Asia (4.21%) and the world (1.86%). However, percentage increase in total infections was lower in Burkina Faso (0.13%), Gambia (0.18%), Ghana (0.27%), Guinea-Bissau (0.08%), Mali (0.32%), Nigeria (0.12%) and Europe (0.06%) compared to Sierra Leone.

Asia (5.40%) recorded the highest percentage increase in total deaths compared to Burkina Faso (0.61%), Cape Verde (0.99%), Guinea (3.95%), Guinea-Bissau (1.49%), Mali (0.39%), Senegal (0.44%), MRU (0.98%), ECOWAS (0.32%), Africa (1.32%), Europe (0.86%), North America (0.61%), South America (2.75%) and the world (2.04%). Benin, Ivory Coast, Gambia, Ghana, Liberia, Niger, Nigeria, Sierra Leone and Togo recorded zero increase in total deaths over the period.

Moreover, Sierra Leone’s percentage increase in total recoveries was lower compared to Benin (3.15), Cape Verde (4.82%), Ivory Coast (0.50%), Gambia (0.46%), Guinea (1.36%), Guinea-Bissau (1.16%), Liberia (0.30%), Mali (1.52%), Niger (1.17%), Senegal (0.41%), Togo (2.70%), MRU (0.73%), ECOWAS (0.70%), Africa (1.06%), Europe (1.44%), North America (1.05%) South America (2.34%), Asia (6.21%) and the world (2.88%). Percentage increase in total recoveries was lower in Burkina Faso (0.20%), Ghana (0.28%) and Nigeria (0.03%) compared to Sierra Leone.
