The Minister of Information and Civic Education, Chernor Bah has praised President Julius Maada Bio for what he said is his passion and commitment toward education in Sierra Leone.

He was speaking in a media interview on the 23rd of October, 2023 analyzing and updating the public on the first 100 days of the President after his re-election following the June 24 multi-tier election in the country.

Bah said that the Government of Sierra Leone is spending a sizeable part of the budget on education and described the President’s passion for learning as unmatched.

He spoke of how in the wake of Covid-19 almost all countries around the world cut down spending on education to save President Bio.

Asked about the landmark achievements of the President’s 100 days in office, the Minister said within this period of time, Bio has succeeded in putting plans, structures, and systems in place for sustainable peace and security.

He said the first task of any President is to ensure that the country is safe and the rule of law is protected.

Bah acknowledged the concerns raised by citizens about the cost of living in the country, and efforts to alleviate the situation, whilst also stressing President Bio’s human capital development which he said would be a success in the long term.

He highlighted improved electricity accessibility in parts of the country and the plans by the government to kick start the Feed Salone agricultural project, which he said people should not write off at this early stage and should instead team up with the government so that it could be sustained.

He assured the public that when the President’s initiated plans are fully implemented, then the “Feed Salone” project would succeed. He stressed that in the next five years, Sierra Leone would achieve food sovereignty.
