Sierra Leone eastern FA Chair ousted

By Kemoh Sesay

The Eastern Region Football Association (ERFA) has passed a vote of no-confidence in their Vice Chairman Hon. Francis Konuwa accusing him of taking an "unprecedented and unilateral decision relating to the sale and transfer of ownership of Gem Stars FC to Belvic United".

The letter, signed by nine executive members by serving as board chairman of Gem Stars  and vice chairman of ERFA, Hon. Konuwa has reduced the strength of the region in terms of delegates, to the  SLFA Congress from ten (10) members to nine (9).

The resolution reads further “…we are not pleased with Hon. Francis Konuwa for disassociating himself from the consensus decision of the ERFA on the just concluded Extra-Ordinary Delegate Congress, notably, the press conference he held, where he clearly exonerated (sic) himself from the ERFA consensus and position on the dissolution of the Madam Isha Johansen Executive Committee which was followed by the appointment of a nine man interim executive...clearly illustrated that the actions and utterances of Konuwa are to all intent and purpose entirely unfavorable to the position to ERFA…"

The EFRA executives also accused Hon. Konuwa of posing as  ERFA Chairman why the region still recognises the leadership of substantive chairman, Morrison Sannoh. The say his action brings "the game into disrepute".

The chairman of Kamboi Eagles football Club Brima Mazola Kamara reacted to the decision of ERFA by saying that they recognise the leadership of Hon. Francis Konuwa as the new Chairman of ERFA and the Executive Committee of SLFA Headed by Madam Isha Johansen.

He said Morrison Sannoh is facing allegations match-fixing and has been banned from all football-related activities in the country.

He said they will not work with Sannoh until he was cleared of those allegations.
