Sierra Leone FA Secretary General challenges Premier League Board Chair

By Chernor Alimamy Kamara

The General- Secretary of the Sierra Leone Football Association (SLFA), Chris Kamara has criticised the Chairman of the Premier League Board (PLB), Lawyer Alieu Vandi for imposing what he referred to as illegal sanctions and defamatory remarks against him.

According to Kamara, the findings of the report against him which are premised on a disciplinary hearing he was never invited to nor did he attend. He said he was shocked and appalled that with the PLB Chairman’s legal background and expected knowledge of the principle of “audi alterram partem” which he described as “hear the other side”, a quasi-legal hearing was conducted under the Chairman’s watch without regard to a party affected.

He reminded Vandi that the PLB is a creation of the SLFA to assist in the football implementation, quoting Articles of the SLFA Statutes to deliver competitions such as the country’s top tier league. He also told him that all disputes and disciplinary -related issues of the board are to be heard and determined by the SLFA Disciplinary Committee.

Kamara claimed he saw insincerity in the report by handpicking certain provisions and even making reference to provisions that do not exist under the Chairman’s governing rules and regulations of 2009. He said the Chairman lacks jurisdiction to preside over the issues referenced in the illegal report, citing provisions that he said do not exist which he said illustrates the “incompetence” of anyone he said that might have authored the document.

He said a lot of reputational damage has been done to his person and requested for the full document from the board. He stated that he intends to pursue legal action and use appropriate channels that actually have jurisdiction to hear and determine disputes. He demanded that retribution be done on the comments, saying the Board gave the impression that he is a supporter of FC Johansen.

He said being the SLFA scribe permits him to attend all matches in that capacity to observe and witness the operational efficiencies of the football association’s competitions.
