Players of Sierra Leone’s national Under 20 Football side have landed in Senegal ahead of their Group A, West Africa Football Union Zone A game against Senegal which will be played today at the Stade Lart Dior De Thies, Dakar. Kick-off is at 4pm.

The 40 man contingent who left Freetown yesterday comprised twenty players, nine Technical team members, four Sierra Leone Football Association (SLFA) officials and seven government officials, according to a press release from the FA.

Sierra Leone’s Ambassador to Senegal, Alhaji Brima Elvis Koroma, said that he held a productive meeting with the interim Union of Sierra Leoneans in Dakar so as to get them mobilize their membership to support the team’s participation in the regional tournament.

The host, Senegal, are in Group A along with Gambia and Sierra Leone with Group B comprising Mali, Guinea, Guinea-Bissau and Mauritania. The tournament will run from 20th- 29th November, 90 kilometres from the capital Dakar. The top two teams from each group will qualify for the Under 20 AFCON competition in Mauritania in 2021. The boys were said to be very confident ahead of their opening match and have promised to give their very best.
