SPORT MINISTRY BACKS STAKEHOLDERS

By Kemoh Sesay

The Ministry of Sports has supported the second dissolution of the Executive Committee of the Sierra Leone Football Association by a group of football administrators and managers known as Stakeholders. Deputy Sport Minister Ishmael Al-Sankoh Conteh told Politico that his ministry has received a copy of the resolution adopted by the Stakeholders and described their action as "legitimate."

The head of media at the SLFA, Abu Bakarr Kamara said "we have not received any letter of impeachment or resolutions addressed to either the SLFA president or the executive committee... we only heard about these things in the media. So when we receive the letter we will respond accordingly."

The football Stakeholders who are opposed to the administration of Isha Johansen told a news conference in Freetown that their decision to dissolve the SLFA executive again was binding on all members of the SLFA and that they will not be intimidated by the World Football Governing Body, FIFA. " Sepp Blatter cannot be in Switzerland and tell us what we should do in our running of football. We have the right to determine whosoever we want to lead our football," said Alhaji Unisa Alim Sesay

Alhaji Alim Sesay said they have lost confidence in Ms. Johansen's administration. He said all the points agreed on with the SLFA before the congress were disrespected and undermined by the SLFA Executive.

The Stakeholders accused the moral guarantor Dr. Patrick Coker of bringing the whole process into disrepute by turning a blind eye to the manipulation and falsification of the delegates list to the extent that genuine delegates were deprived of their right to attend the congress and participate in the deliberations.

The last time the SLFA executive was dissolved, president Ernest Bai Koroma intervened in his capacity as head of the National Sports Council and restored the status-quo. State House has so far not commented on the recent development.
