THE MASTER OF BOTE GAME FALLS ON HIS SWORD
So Brightest Man has left the NGC and would now spend more time with God and his family. In fact he says he is leaving the NGC for the reason quoted below
“On the advice of my family who are greatly troubled about their safety and security as a result of my involvement and experiences in politics recently. The stress, pains and sacrifices of active politics in Sierra Leone recently have taken a toll on my family’s solidarity. My spouse and children deserve to live in relative peace and comfort and not sleep in fear of anything grave that may befall me.”
We want to tell Brightest Man that we read his letter many times over and we clearly understood the message. At this point we don’t want to bring his spouse and children into this discussion for ethical reasons except to say that, for us, what Brightest Man calls RECENTLY goes back to Tejan Kabbah’s second term when he was sitting in cabinet with the support of his family. He would want those reading his letter to limit his idea of RECENTLY to the events following their acrimonious Executive Committee meeting that exposed the deep cracks inside the NGC.
Like we’ve already said in this column, the NGC is falling apart now because a hard core that wants to move the party along the RED ROAD has failed to persuade KKY, their charismatic leader, to go along. Following his rapprochement with Principal he is now actively working on an electoral pact with the ruling party. That’s all.
We will be doing some work on Brightest Man’s days in the Kabbah government in coming editions but for now we want to focus on his BOTE GAME STRATEGY.
Under the BOTE GAME plan the guy took his party into bed with Tolongbo. We saw Whatsapp pictures of him with a few others at King Messi’s Palace in the fortress city of Makeni. The public was told he was working on the CoPP idea. That was doomed to fail anyway because it was set up only to meet the electoral ends of Tolongbo.
Also under BOTE GAME, Brightest went to ECSL and withdrew the NGC candidate for a bye-election in a Tolongbo heartland in Portloko. He even appeared at a campaign event with Tolongbo. Nothing wrong with that but it’s good to point out that the NGC was divided over their membership of CoPP and the BOTE GAME strategy but those against it didn't resign and tell the world about insecurity and this and that.
Now that their only asset at the ballot box, KKY has decided to return to the GREEN Road, where Brightest Man also comes from, suddenly people are resigning and pretending a great disaster was about to strike good old Sierra Leone.
WHY NOT PUT NGC UP FOR SALE?
Brightest Man and his friends should put what is left of the NGC up for sale quickly, in any case not later than March 2023. Other THIRD FORCE parties that found themselves in a similar position since the return of democracy in 1996 were put up for sale and there were willing buyers.
In Sierra Leone football managers whose teams cannot win games on the field to gain promotion to what we call the Premier League simply look around for teams already in that division but are finding life difficult because they are neither able to pay their players nor meet other commitments and buy them over. That trick was employed by the most incompetent president ever to run the SLFA, Isha Johansen. So what is left of the NGC can also be put up for sale and we believe there are people ready to buy.
The NGC motto is Sierra Leone First. The money from the sale of the party will go towards the school feeding program. Our children who will be taught about the rise and fall of the NGC as part of their history lesson should be strong enough to learn about KKY, Brightest Man and some of the other characters.
Alongside the NGC will be C4C. PMDC is another group that will feature in that chapter with PDP taking the opening lines in a lesson on the history of the THIRD FORCE in Sierra Leone.
