THE RED MOVEMENT AND PROJECT DESTROY UMARU FOFANA
Now it looks like PROJECT DESTROY UMARU FOFANA, so well organized and funded by the Red Movement at home and abroad has collapsed under the weight of its own incompetent planning and evil intentions. In the last few days we have witnessed worldwide rejection of the attempt by the Red Movement to crown their FOUR years of ruthless smear campaign against one of the best journalists in Africa with a disgrace of a protest outside BBC headquarters in London. They were out to stab the man at the heart of his livelihood and reputation and in the process silence his great journalism. That effort has clearly failed. So where do they go from here?
At the core of all of this is the struggle by the RED MOVEMENT to capture the narrative and paint a very bleak human rights picture of the present political dispensation in Sierra Leone in their firm belief that the international community will then impose broad multi-lateral sanctions on Sierra Leone and the consequences of that will make it possible for them to return to State House. It’s extremely easy to read through it all. And they take zero prisoners as they execute this plan – Star Musician Emerson Bockarie, Pastor Mambu and some civil society organizations have all been viciously attacked recently for failing to follow the message of doom and gloom in this land that we love.
We have the following issues to put on the table for the RED MOVEMENT to consider.
1. There appears to some confusion among members of that movement about the way the BBC news agenda is set and how they carry out their overall business. This is not the place to do details but please note that the BBC will never risk their FIRMLY ESTABLISHED CREDIBILITY by doing the kind of journalism the RED MOVEMENT wants.
2. The vast majority of those who vote in this country do not make electoral choices after listening to the BBC. The RED MOVEMENT has a lot of media organizations at home that they absolutely control. Why not pay attention to those?
3. The few guys who turned up for that failed protest should send back some of the money they received from that fortress city because they couldn’t bring even a dozen people out. They promised that thousands would walk the streets of central London.
4. King Messi has suddenly become the High Priest of FREEDOM OF EXPRESSION. He says those haters were exercising that right. King Messi promised and then refused to ensure freedom of expression for ELEVEN YEARS despite being constantly reminded. Principal just did that in TWO years. This is a FACT.
5. Anyway, we will hang it here for now. There’s an item in the headlines of BBC news, it’s a report by UMARU FOFANA.
GLAD TIDINGS AT PRINCIPAL’S ANNUAL MEDIA COCKTAIL
If all goes well media workers throughout this country will meet Principal on Friday 18th December in the annual MEDIA COCKTAIL. We hear that this time it will take place in the gardens of State House, not Radisson hotel. It’s always been a great meeting place for journalists and Principal.
This year, we expect Principal to trumpet his fantastic achievement in killing that CRIMINAL AND SEDITIOUS LIBEL in Sierra Leone. We will also celebrate that. We are now proud members of the decent world community that is totally against throwing media workers in jail because they make critical, even rude comments about the political leadership.
For ELEVEN YEARS we did everything in this country to get King Messi to do as he promised – repeal this most obnoxious of laws but he refused. These days we don’t have to look over our shoulders when writing articles. No more concerns about Friday 4pm visitors from CID.
A free media is a vital part of any democratic nation. The days of half democracy are gone.
ISHA JOHANSEN MUST NOW RESIGN IN SHAME
For more than FIVE years, Queen Johansen and her people did everything to nurture and sustain that WICKED LIE that Rodney Michael and a handful of powerful football stakeholders were deeply involved in match-fixing and that they should be banned from all football activities for life. Despite all the cries of injustice, Johansen’s team called the name of FIFA as the body investigating Michael and others.
We note that even after FIFA actually nailed a few Sierra Leoneans without even a mention of the name of Rodney or indeed Kanasieu, the Johansen SLFA refused to state categorically that those credible Sierra Leoneans had nothing to do with match-fixing. In fact, it became clear early this year that it was her intention to keep that odious tag on them to get them disqualified from the coming election – an election she has delayed for three years through not so shrewd manipulation.
In Kenema, the Queen set up judicial bodies using ruthless exclusion tactics including preventing some stakeholders from entering the hotel compound and counting votes like they do in BELARUS. We are sure she wanted those bodies to legitimize her bid to disqualify RODNEY MICHAEL and others. Now the HER OWN Ethics committee has cleared Michael and others and Queen Johansen’s final day in office is here. Like objects in the mirror, RODNEY MICHEAL is closer to SLFA headquarters Kingtom than he appears.
So now we want to call on the controversially elected, Lukashenka –like SLFA president to RESIGN for the following reason:
1. Why did she persist with this witch-hunt long after it became very clear that Rodney Michael and others had nothing to do with match-fixing?
2. Why didn’t she back up her statement to parliament about having NO EVIDENCE TO PROVE IT by scrapping the whole inquiry immediately?
3. Why hasn’t she openly apologized to Rodney and others after the Ethics Committee report for the unbelievably huge REPUTIONAL DAMAGE done to their families?
4. Why is she still holding office, three years after her mandate expired?
5. She is totally unfit for that office.
