JOHN KEISTER MAKES A VERY BAD MOVE

This column last week called on John Keister to be strong in dealing with Musa Tombo, the player who thinks the nation owes him everything there he can do as he likes and all the rest of us can do is to jump into the sea and die. Keister created the impression he would be strong in dealing with the Tombo issue as a way of ensuring discipline in the squad. The best players in a chaotic camp mean nothing.

Keister expressed frustration at Musa Tombo not turning up for training for two weeks. He told some sports journalists that he gave the player some cash when he complained of being broke and the player then refused to pick his calls. The next thing we saw was Tombo in a TIK TOK video dancing and taking a swipe at his coach. He even gave interviews in which he accused Keister of LYING. It was against that background that we urged Keister to be strong and not to let this opportunity pass without stamping his authority on the team. We told him to issue an immediate order to Tombo to return to training within a specific period or be thrown out to his favourite place – Approved School.

24 hours later, Tombo’s new found love and guardian angel appears in a social media video alongside Keister suggesting to us that the matter was dead and buried. Keister has not told us what that was about but here what we are saying:

1. Tombo is EMPLOYED by the state. He is well paid considering what people in other sectors are getting. That includes doctors and teachers. He has no choice but to either turn for work as required or RESIGN.

2. Imagine a civil servant fails to turn up for work for two weeks and collects money from his boss to supplement his income but then continues to stay home and refuses to pick calls from his boss. He then goes on social media to call his boss a liar. What do we do to such a civil servant? We can’t continuously pamper one man as if we have no other options.

3. The intervention of his social media loving fairy God mother makes no difference. How Keister reached the decision to allow himself to be paraded in that way is his business. Keister has been in this thing for long; he should know how to handle such matters. We are waiting for him to decisively deal with the Musa Tombo question. He should do it in public. This is our NATIONAL TEAM. It’s not a family affair.

EDSA PLEASE MIND YOUR ELECTRICITY CABLES

We acknowledge that in the last month or so electricity supply has improved dramatically. We congratulate EDSA for that. We however want to call their attention to the cables hanging dangerously along Sir Samuel Lewis road. When we first saw them we thought some EDSA workers were in the area and we did search to confirm but we found none so we can conclude that for the foreseeable future those cables are going to be hanging over our heads as we go about our normal businesses.

As far as we are concerned that’s abnormal and EDSA should do something about those dangerous cables immediately. There is this tendency among state institutions to always ignore us when we bring such things to their notice. We are prepared to be ignored again on this but we warn that we will hold EDSA personally responsible for any lives lost as a consequence of rain or wind knocking those power lines down, causing mayhem.

We will keep an eye on them from now on.
