IF PAOLO’S WISH FOR WAR CAME TRUE WHAT WILL HE DO?

Alfred Paolo Conteh is telling his supporters in some parts of the country to prepare for WAR in case his political ambitions are not realized. His plan is to go back to those people in the event of a very likely devastating defeat of tolonbgo in the coming elections and tell those ordinary people to declare war on the winner of the elections until the “UN separates us”. Even for him to go around the country creating pictures of war and destruction and of UN forces returning to this country is a very dangerous and disgraceful thing to do but at his age and having enjoyed government money throughout his life, particularly for almost ELEVEN years under King Messi, we understand why he is so desperate. But he is making a huge mistake.

Alfred Paolo Conteh is not telling the people that in a democracy when people are aggrieved their options are to go to the courts or in some extreme cases demonstrate on the streets for their voices to be heard. He is telling them to prepare for a long WAR until the “UN separates us”. Here is a big coward beating the drums of WAR in communities his ELEVEN years in power left more destitute than when his tolongbo first arrived in power in 2007. That was the year he returned to this country from his long years of political asylum in the west.

In the unlikely event that what Paolo is praying for happens again in this land that we love here’s how things will play out:

1. Alfred Paolo Conteh has dual nationality. We call them TWO SIM in Sierra Leone. Has holds a British passport and also our ordinary green book. He doesn’t have the diplomatic one anymore. The coward will jump on the next flight out and in six hours land in the UK. His fight will then continue on social media.

2. Before long the International Criminal Court will catch up with him and he will be in The Hague for inciting WAR in this country or he will be brought before a British court and eventually a place at HMP Belmarsh for life.

3. Meanwhile the ordinary Sierra Leoneans who saw him as savior and decided to join his WAR nonsense will suffer for years before the case of Sierra Leone is even mentioned at the UN. The world would be completely fed up with putting out fires in Sierra Leone. We warn Alfred Paolo Conteh again to be careful what he prays for.

LET JUSTICE BE DONE: DEREK CHAUVIN TRIAL COMING TO AN END

Closing arguments will be delivered on Today in the trial of Derek Chauvin the racist police officer who killed an unarmed black man George Floyd in Minneapolis. We believe he should be convicted and banged up for a very long time.

We are neither lawyers nor police officers but we have watched the trial unfold and paid particular attention to the case for the defence and it’s now time for the jury to find the racist police man guilty because no police manual teaches that it is normal policing to nail a man already in handcuffs to the ground by his neck with your knee and keep it there until the man is suffocated to death while ignoring persistent cries of “I can’t breathe”. The world has never been the same since that racist police officer killed George Floyd.

We are extremely happy with the way the case for the people has been put by the prosecution. No matter the amount of money paid to the family as compensation, we want that police officer in jail. Nothing justifies the killing of an unarmed man, already handcuffed.

Meanwhile we call on all the good people of this world who hate racism and police brutality to pray for the soul of George Floyd and for justice to prevail in that courtroom.

HOW FAR ARE WE NOW WITH THE YENGA QUESTION?

So far we believe Principal has ticked all the right boxes in the Yenga problem. The ownership of that piece of land on our eastern border with Guinea which is occupied almost entirely by Sierra Leoneans became a contested matter since the days when Alhaji Tejan Kabbah was president of Sierra Leone. True to his way of solving problems, Kabbah used diplomatic means throughout his tenure but he couldn’t resolve the issue. The two colonial powers – Britain and France actually got involved at some point but we are still in the same place on the Yenga question.

For eleven years King Messi followed the same pattern and left office with no acceptable answer to the Yenga question. All we got was spin from his government’s spokesman Kothor IB saying “Yenga is no longer an issue”. The truth is, then as now Yenga remains a festering wound that goes back more than twenty years and Principal is right to continue the diplomatic approach. And there are many reasons why we believe that is the correct thing to do.

1. Armed conflict between Guinea and Sierra Leone should be avoided by all means. Both countries share a lot in common and those ties should NEVER be jeopardized in the interest of the long-term stability of the Mano River Union basin.

2. Those boundary stones were not laid by the leaders or peoples of the two countries. We are victims of colonial madness which resulted in the same people found in their small corner of the world being divided against their wish.

3. Today the political situation in Guinea is so volatile that just to conduct an election Prof. Conde had to close all their land borders. Old Conde somehow believes there are dark forces in neighboring countries plotting to cause problems in his country. Sierra Leone has no record of destabilizing her neighbors. That’s a fact.

4. We should also not push Conde too hard because he is looking for a way to reunite his people after his forces killed so many of them just to land an undemocratic THIRD TERM in office. It will be very easy for him to tell his people that a foreign country has attacked Guinea and then use that to rally his people behind him. We should not play into his hands.

5. The two committees working to resolve the border problem should work hard and be bold to say the truth about who owns the land. We know Yenga is part of Sierra Leone. That’s it.

PPRC PLEASE TELL US HOW MANY POLITICAL PARTIES WE HAVE IN SALONE

Elections are just two years away and we expect the Political Parties Registration Commission (PPRC) to begin the process of working with our so-called parties registered with the Commission. We cannot tell now whether new ones would emerge or those that participated in the 2018 elections would still be around. And we cannot hide the fact that in the polls two years ago, some political parties were not up to scratch when it came to meeting all the requirements laid out in the laws of this country.

The Commission was quite generous to a good number of them, as they had no properly run offices or credible executive representation beyond Freetown. Some never gave allowances to those that offered their services.  We would advise that they look at the structure of some of these parties including some big and old ones. Today, they only exist in Freetown and on social media. Those who want to run political parties should go by the law. As things stand we know that structures are non- existent and we remain skeptical about the seriousness of these parties in the democratic space.

The PPRC boss Abdulai Bangura must get his team to thoroughly scrutinize some of our parties to save the electorate from being confused and cheated by parties that exist only in name. We will not accept any brief case parties being certified to put their names on the ballot. In fact we want them to know that no GOODLUCK JONATHAN money is coming here for the foreseeable future.
