KOTOR JULDEH MEETS KING MESSI IN FORTRESS MAKENI

Kotor Juldeh took to social media in the 48 hours or so to report his meeting with King Messie in his modern day castle inside his fortress city in the north. Principal’s front line commander created the impression that the meeting was not planned – well, like meetings of that nature being planned by civil servants and all that. So he reported that he was returning to Freetown from his home in Kono and he decided to see the king.

We all know that nobody walks into a king's compound like that. The official protocol around kings cannot allow such unplanned meetings. But let’s just say that is not the most important issue for now. Let’s push on quickly to the atmosphere around the meeting, the reported outcome and our take-away message.

1. It was a good thing that the two people met. In fact, we don’t know why such meetings have not been taking place from time to time. Meeting and talking about Sierra Leone doesn’t mean they will still not criticize each other and contest for power.

2. What we read from both sides sounded like the best message around national cohesion many Sierra Leoneans have heard in a good few years. Surely there were serious points of disagreement that both sides did not report. It could be about substance or style. Let’s see what slips out from our normal sources in the coming days. That will help us determine the atmosphere inside the room during the conversation.

3. Principal is away on state matters but surely he approved that meeting. So for Kotor Juldeh to create the impression he merely passed through the castle on his way to Freetown from the east is a little bit like taking our collective ability to understand how these things happen for granted.

4. King Messie says he will always support positive things about this land that we love. Well said sir but that includes attending national events to which you were invited. It also includes not making incendiary political statements that could disrupt the peace as a former Prezo. Let’s not always remind you to play the game like Alhaji Tejan Kabbah of Salone man bad heart fame.

5. So when will King Messie pass by State Lodge on his way to or from Makeni? Is that not where all of this is going? By the way it was also good to see Kotor Juldeh pressing the flesh in the market center in Makeni.

SALAH’S NIGHT OF ‘REVENGE’ IS A NIGHT TO REMEMBER IN PARIS

Liverpool’s quadruple title ambition came to a crashing end in Paris last Saturday evening. Before we go into other matters, let’s get a few things out of the way quickly: Liverpool is a great team. Jürgen Klopp’s side is strong. They play great football in all departments. And they deserve to be where they are right now in world football. Since joining up, Klopp has carefully put the team together, obviously with the support of the owners who provided the cash and the unflinching support of the fans who NEVER WALK ALONE. The Liverpool team is a killing machine.

This season they were hoping to take home four trophies and for a time they convinced the world it was quite possible taking into consideration their consistent great performances. In the end they only managed to take home the Carabao Cup and the FA Cup. They lost the really big ones – the EPL cup and the European Champions League.

The journey back to Merseyside must have been extremely boring for those tens of thousands of fans who poured into Paris for the big event. We wish them well next time but we have just a few issues to bring up.

1. What will FIFA do to the European Football governing body for the delayed kick off and the crowd trouble outside? We saw pictures of fans taking in some tear gas and scaling a wall to get into the stadium. We know how FIFA treats other associations when such things happen. We are waiting.

2. Liverpool had many good chances throughout the match. In fact, they were a threat till the end so why didn’t they do the normal thing against an aging side like Real Madrid who actually scraped their way to the final? This sounds and feels like a question for Klopp.

3. Substituting Diaz with Jota certainly didn’t work. The role those two people should play in the Liverpool team is a question Klopp must answer decisively going into the next season. He tiptoed around it last Saturday.

4. We are now waiting for Klopp to tell us if Sadio Mane is staying or going away to Germany. Mane looked very disappointed on Saturday night. And he hasn’t dispelled rumors of his plan to leave Liverpool after six years.

5. Anyway, when a goalkeeper is declared MAN OF THE MATCH and his team goes on to win the match, the picture is clear. Congrats Madrid.

WHERE IS SORIE IBRAHIM SESAY OF SLFA?

The director of competitions at the SLFA was sent out of his office several weeks ago because his boss didn’t like a letter he wrote to Premier League clubs over changes in match venues following the closure of the Siaka Steven Stadium for renovation. In that letter, written on behalf of the SLFA, Sorie Ibrahim threatened sanctions against clubs that use venues not originally identified as their home grounds. His message didn’t go down well with the clubs and our man received a roasting on social media.

Next thing we heard was that the Executive Committee of the SLFA was looking into the matter and Sorie Ibrahim was very quickly sent home. Our sources told us at the time he would be out of office for ONE MONTH. He hasn’t said a word since then. It’s now more than a month and our journalist colleague is still out of office and the SLFA is not saying a word to the nation about the Director of Competitions

We don’t want to go into wider issues of fairness and justice being evenly applied to all staff at the SLFA for now. All we want is a clear statement on the status of Sorie Ibrahim. Surely he cannot continue in limbo with the SLFA creating the impression things were normal

There is a notorious and persistent offender in that place who is still in office and behaving arrogantly. Why should Sorie be treated like this when he was acting on instructions? We understand that the person who authorized him to write the letter in the first place had denied telling him to write in such a demeaning way to the clubs. Is he telling us he didn't read a draft? We hope that what we were told by our sources is NOT about to come to pass. We were told that being sent on leave was the first step to being sacked.

We will not let that happen because the action will be disproportionate, even vindictive. Sorie is a loyal and professional guy. Let justice be done.

AVOID PEKITOES RIGHT NOW, AVOID JAIL: STAY SAFE

As they say on the streets of Freetown these days, DE GAME DON BIG O. Yes the game is really big now on the issue of PEKITOES so men should be extremely careful. One small joke in one little corner could end in an indictment, a trial and a TEN YEAR holiday Pademba Road jail. The best way to avoid a date with the High Court is to:

1. Stay off this PEKITO business totally. Don’t even encourage that traditional arrangement in which parents literally hand their children over in several guises. The sexual offences court is very dangerous.

2. If you want to spend some cash helping young people please go to Don Bosco or SOS and do blind adoption. In other words fund a child in any of those places without seeing them. Those are good organizations. Your money is safe.

3. Don’t go into any situation where PEKITOES will be hanging around doing their selfies.  Being misunderstood could raise serious alarm. If you see them near your house lock your doors and have a sound sleep or just run.

4. Social media friendships with people you don’t know MUST STOP now. That’s how things develop.

5. Totally avoid this side chick thing with PEKITOES. If you think it’s impossible, then we may sooner rather than later meet at the sexual offences court. We are journalists and our business is to report. We hope you find this useful.
