VSO introduces technology to 32 schools in Pujehun

Voluntary Service Overseas (VSO) has distributed eight hundred customized tablets, headsets, and solar panels to thirty-two schools in Pujehun District.

The project called Building Foundational Learning through Technology under VSO targets seven thousand (7,000) early learners in fifty-two schools for pupils in classes 1 to 3 in both Pujehun and Kailahun Districts.

VSO has launched the second pilot phase of the project in Pujehun District; Speaking at the launch at Every Nation Primary School in Pujehun town, the Chief Administrator Pujehun District Council Sahr Emmanuel Yambasu expressed appreciation for the initiative.

 He commended VSO for preparing early learners on technology for the future and called on parents and teachers to own the initiative.

The Monitoring and Evaluation Officer Abubakarr Senessie said introducing such items in schools helps produce the best learning outcomes among early learners. He said out of the thirty-two schools under review, twenty-four were provided with digital technology items.

Education Technology Officer Emmanuel Fallah Focko said the project started in Malawi, with Sierra Leone the first country in West Africa to benefit from the project. He said that the tablets were designed in line with the curriculum of the Ministry of Basic and Senior Secondary Education.

Beneficiaries expressed appreciation for the initiative. They used the occasion to call on the government, VSO, and other partners to provide better sanitary facilities for them.
