Home-based players of the national team, Leone Stars will play their opening match today in the West Africa Football Union tournament against host nation Ghana.
Ibrahim Kuyateh, a fan of East End Lions says he doesn't expect much from the team because there is no active local league going on in Freetown. He said: ‘’this past league is not enough to assess this players to play this competitions and face the likes of Ghana and Burkina Faso who have vast experience in this competition’’. Kuyateh welcomed the financial support of the sport-betting company, Mercury International describing it as "good preparation".
Anoher supporter told Politico Leone Stars are there "to expose themselves as most times we are not doing well in such competitions and I hope we will perform better today against Ghana.
