Not for the first time a students' union election at Fourah Bay College has created a furore. So much so that the college administration has had to postpone it for fear of violence which seemed quite palpable as the contest got closer. And here is the irony:

There has been much talk about a boom in Sierra Leone's economy. Between 2011 and 2012 the GDP grew by 15% - from US$ 2.92 billion to $ 3.7 Billion. It is projected to rise by 6% to US$ 3.9 Billion, and US$ 4.7 Billion (13%) if you include the iron ore sector. So Politico spoke to the Finance Minister, Dr Kelfala Marrah on whether this has impacted the ordinary Sierra Leone.

In March 2010, the Gbamanja Commission of Inquiry presented its report to President Ernest Bai Koroma at State House. We are publishing the White Paper – or those recommendations of the commission as accepted by the Government – so you are reminded of them but also so that you can take stock of what have and have not been implemented.
