800 Sierra Leoneans for hajj this year

Minister of Social Welfare, Moijue Kaikai says preparations are at an advanced stage for 800 Sierra Leoneans who will perform this year’s Muslim pilgrimage to Mecca, Saudi Arabia.

He told Politico at his New England office in Freetown that as far as the government was concerned they had gone far into preparations with feeding, accommodation and medication for those who would be traveling.

NEC set for bye-elections

The National Electoral Commission say they are set for the parliamentary bye-election in Constituency 01 in Kailahun district and the local council bye-election in Ward 229 in Tonkolili.

Chief of external relations, Albert Massaquoi, says 28 September 2013 has been set aside for both elections.

He says the vacancies occurred as a result of the death on 26 April 2013 of Alice Mamie Tewoh Foyah, MP, and Councilor Joseph Kawah Kerah on 29 May this year.
