NRA, Ecobank case gravely concerns lawyers

Defense lawyers in the ongoing trial of 17 people indicted by the Anti-Corruption Commission have expressed grave concern and indignation over the persistent refusal by judges in the matter to grant their clients bail. Their grumbling followed the decision of the vacation High Court judge to again not grant the accused persons bail on Wednesday, August 7, on the grounds that some people wanted in the matter were still at large and “the court needs time to study the content of the matter”

FBC students visit Sierra Leone Parliament

Dozens of students from the Department of Economics and Commerce of Fourah Bay College yesterday went on a study visit to parliament to enlighten themselves on the Sierra Leone budget.

Welcoming the students and their lecturer, Clerk of Parliament, Ibrahim Sesay introduced them to the 1991 Constitution. He also explained to them the different types of budget and looked at the budgets of different countries and the functions of the standing committees in parliament.

SLPP national confab next week – JOB assures

The outgoing Chairman and Leader of the main opposition Sierra Leone People’s Party (SLPP), John Oponjo Benjamin says the SLPP convention will hold as scheduled on 16 - 17 August this year.

Speaking in an exclusive interview with Politico, Benjamin said they were hoping to get a successful and peaceful convention assuring that all arrangements had been made to ensure that outcome.

Hunter kills man for deer
