Sierra Leone, Japan sign agreement

The planned electrification of the Freetown Peninsula received a significant boost following the signing of Exchange of Notes between the Governments of Japan and Sierra Leone that would see US $15 Million Japanese Grant support going into the project.

Sierra Leone’s Deputy Foreign Affairs Minister Mamadi Ngobeh Kamara and the Japanese Ambassador to Sierra Leone Mochizuki Hisanobu exercised the formalities at the foreign ministry in Freetown on Monday this week.

Sierra Leone hit by fuel shortage, again

Despite a statement from the Petroleum Regulatory Agency that there was enough stock of petrol coming into the country, long queues continued over the weekend at fuel stations in various parts of the country. Pump attendants at some fuel stations were conspicuously absent.

Sierra Leone warns army to stay off politics

The Commander Joint Force of the Republic of Sierra Leone Armed Forces, Major- General Dauda Fred Alpha has warned military personnel to stay off politics as the country approaches the General elections.

He said this during closing courtesies to end a two day Command Group Conference held at the Myohaung Officers’ Mess, Wilberforce Barracks in Freetown on Friday 16th December 2022.

Sierra Leone hosts first film festival

The first ever first Film Festival to be held in Sierra Leone has ended at Bamoi Hotel in Freetown. The event which commenced on Thursday 15th ended Sunday. Bana Media hosted the festival that was aimed at showcasing Sierra Leonean movies by screening them and identifying areas they could improve on.

Sierra Leone opposition calls for voter registration data disclosure

The main opposition All Peoples Congress (APC) has demanded for the disclosure of disaggregated voter registration data and also urged for an independent audit of the registration process and the cancellation of the Proportional Representation (PR) electoral system.

This was disclosed in a press statement they issued last friday.
