Bo Rangers aim for maximum points after winless start

The defending champions in the Sierra Leone Premier League will be aiming for all three points in their next outing after going winless opening match at home turf.

The PK Boys are set to play Old Edwardians on Sunday, 18th December this year.

The champions were held in a one all draw against debutant, Real Republicans in Bo with opening goal coming from Republicans’ Ibrahim Sorie Conteh in the second-half. However, the match was levelled after Jumu Kamara scored for Bo Rangers.

Sierra Leone Premier League commences

The much-anticipated Sierra Leone Premier League got off on Friday 9th December, 2022 at the Bo coronation stadium where defending champions Bo Rangers hosted this year's debutant Real Republicans.

The match ended with a goal apiece with Republicans first netting only for Rangers to equalize late in the second half.

Rangers goal poacher, Musa Noah Kara (Musa Tombo) whose suspension  by the FA for abandoning his club contract in Libya was seen crying in the stadium after his former club drew.

Swimming Association President eyes NOC leadership

The President of the Sierra Leone Swimming Association, Mohamed Abul Turay has officially declared his intention of contesting  for  Presidency of the National Olympic Committee of Sierra Leone (NOC SL) with the promise to bring ‘’exemplary transformation into sports disciplines’’.

He made his declaration at the National Sports Authority (NAS)  in Freetown on Friday 2nd December, 2022, ahead the of elections scheduled for the 10th December this year.

Sierra Leone urges Premier League to attract private sponsors

Minister of Sports, Ibrahim Nyelenkeh has called on the Premier League Board to seek sponsorship from the private sector, saying the running of the game is not the responsibility of Government.

Nyelenkeh made this statement at the handing over of a document to the board to enable it access the sum of Two million four hundred and sixty one thousand and three hundred Leones (Le 2, 461,300) new currency that government has already been sent to its account.

Sierra Leone’s parliament enters football controversy

Parliament has summoned the heads of the main bodies supervising football in Sierra Leone to discuss matters related to a recent friendly between the national football team Leone Stars and the second string side of the Algerian national team in Dubai.

Minister of Sports, Ibrahim Nyelenkeh, National Sports Authority (NSA) Executive Director, Kenneth Brima, SLFA Secretary General, Chris Kamara, and President, Thomas Daddy Brima are due to appear before the Committee on Sports on the 30th November, 2022.
