Sierra Leonean girls urged to play football

The Secretary to the Women’s Premier League Board, Jennesy Matturi has during the weekly press briefing at the Ministry of Information and Communications at Youyi building on the 20th October, 2022, urged young kids to play football.

According to her, in as much as they want young girls to play football, they as well want them to focus on their education which she said is something they will depend on at the end of their career.

First female football league kicks off in Sierra Leone

The much- anticipated first ever national female football league kicked off on Saturday at the Wusum field in Makeni, an event that was witnessed by President Julius Maada Bio and First Lady Fatima Bio and other dignitaries.  Mena Queens from Makeni engaged their counterparts Kahunla Queens from Kenema in league opener.

The first half  was an entertaining encounter between Mena Queens of Makeni and Kahunla Queens of Kenema that however ended nil- nil.

Sierra Leone’s top goal scorer stabs himself

Former Bo Rangers forward, Musa Noah Kamara popularly known as Musa Tombo yesterday 13th October allegedly made an attempt on his life by stabbing himself with a knife.

He was then taken to the Bo Government Hospital for medical attention.

FC Kallon through to CAF Confederation Cup Group stage

FC Kallon  are through to the group stage of the Confederation of African Football (CAF) Cup after defeating Buffles Les Borgou of Benin 3-0  at the Samuel K Doe stadium in Liberia  in the return leg on Saturday, where the match was played because of the renovation going on at the stadium in Freetown. They complete the duel 4-0 on aggregate after an earlier 1-0 away victory in Benin.

Kallon’s free flowing football saw their inform former East End Lions striker, Alie Conteh aka Nzozi netting a hat-trick in the game.

Preparations gather pace for female league football in Sierra Leone

The Chairperson of the Sierra Leone Women's Premier League Board, Asmaa James Kamara has urged all football professionals in the country to take the upcoming 2022-2023 Women's Premier League tournament seriously.

She made the appeal on Wednesday 14 September at the Sierra Leone Football Association (SLFA) Secretariat in Freetown where a two-day seminar was organized to improve the performances of coaches, administrators and sport medics who will be participating in the competition.
