Preparations gather pace for female league football in Sierra Leone

The Chairperson of the Sierra Leone Women's Premier League Board, Asmaa James Kamara has urged all football professionals in the country to take the upcoming 2022-2023 Women's Premier League tournament seriously.

She made the appeal on Wednesday 14 September at the Sierra Leone Football Association (SLFA) Secretariat in Freetown where a two-day seminar was organized to improve the performances of coaches, administrators and sport medics who will be participating in the competition.

Keister drops Musa ‘Tombo’ Kamara for friendlies

Leone Stars Coach, John Keister has dropped last season Sierra Leone Premier League’s (SLPL)top scorer, Musa Noah Kamara in his 25-man squad for friendlies against Bafana Bafana of South Africa and the Leopards of D.R. Congo.

Kamara, who scored Sierra Leone’s first goal in the 2021 African Cup of Nations (AfCON) , is currently in a topsy-turvy situation again after it emerged that he would like to cancel his contract with Libyan Champions, Al-Ittihad, days after arriving in Tripoli.

Real Republicans back in Sierra Leone Premier League

One of Sierra Leone’s most glamorous football clubs Real Republicans are back in the Premier League, after an absence of 13 years.  They defeated Great Scarcies 4-2  in a penalty shootout  in the promotion  playoff that took place at Wusum Field in Makeni.

It was quite an emotional moment for the players, officials and fans of a team dubbed the Soccer Ambassadors for their prowess during their successful years in the past.

Sierra Leone teams in CAF competitions kick off contest

Football clubs in Sierra Leone are participating in this year’s Confederations of African Football Association’s (CAF) Champions League and Confederations Cup .

In the CAF Confederations Cup, FC Kallon defeated Buffles du Borgou of Benin on Friday 9th September, 2022 1-0 in Cotonou in the preliminary round of the competition. The goal was scored by Philip Conteh in the 67 minutes of the game.

Bo Rangers terminate Musa Tombo’s contract

Bo Rangers Football Club in a letter addressed to Musa N. Kamara aka Musa Tombo  have terminated the player’s contract with the club effective 1st September, 2022.

According to the letter, the action was due to what they referred to his failure, refusal and/or neglect to ‘conform’ to established standards of good moral character and sportsmanship which the club described as reasonably excusable.

Ultimatum for Sierra Leone FA over ‘match fixing’ report

The Ministry of Sports (MOS) together with the National Sports Authority (NSA) have in a press statement urged the Sierra Leone Football Association (SLFA) to present findings of their investigations of the Eastern Region Football Association (ERFA) Super Ten League Matches not later than Wednesday, 31st August 2022 or face serious actions.

The country’s football governing body was also ordered to immediately put on hold the National Playoffs for promotion to the Premier League  that are about to commence.
