Sierra Leone FC Kallon to build on Challenge Cup success

The Head Coach of FC Kallon, Amidu Karim has said that the team will build their title challenge on the back of their latest success in the Challenge Cup. Karim told Politico shortly after beating East End Lions 1-0 to win the first edition of the Challenge Cup on Sunday.

That encounter at the National Stadium was the curtain raiser for the new Premier League season in Sierra Leone. East End Lions, the league champions, came into this game as heavy favorites after beating FC Kallon twice last season.

Sierra Leone Premier League Board signs marketing deal with Orange

The Premier League Board (PLB) has signed a deal with the telecommunication giant Orange SL. The deal entails that the operator supports the Sierra Leone Premier League with advertising and marketing.

Chairman of the PLB, Alie Vandy Koroma, confirmed the deal with Politico on Wednesday afternoon, shortly after the agreement was signed.

As part of the deal, Orange will support the league with media platforms, reports on the league via SMS and other value additional services.

Sierra Leone Premier League season starts today - a Preview

Let the games begin!

The Sierra Leone Premier League returns today after a five months break. From 4:30pm, games will play in the East, South and Western area of the country. Today, six of the 14 teams will get back to playing and fighting each other for the next six months.

FC Johansen, Mighty Blackpool, Freetown City FC, Bo Rangers, Diamond Stars, Kamboi Eagles and Anti-Drugs are all in action.

So, brace up for 364 games full of pure excitement, drama and adrenaline rush. It doesn’t get better than this.

Sierra Leone’s Premier League to focus on technology and innovation

The new Premier League Board has laid out a grand plan on how it will run the 2019/2020 Sierra Leone Premier League. The chairman of the board, Allieu Vandi Koroma said much of their plan was focused on technology and innovation.  

Koroma outlined the plan at a press conference on Saturday which marked the official launch of the new season.

Four female referees for Sierra Leone's Premier League 2019/20

Referees Coordinator, Mohamed Gwen Freeman, has said they have trained four female referees who would officiate Sierra Leone Premier League matches for the first time in the league’s history.

Freeman made the announcement during the launch of the league on Saturday at the Radisson Blu Mammy Yoko Hotel in Freetown.

Sierra Leone league champions - East End Lions - seek Le 5 billion for new season

Chairman of East End Lions Football Club, Anthony Navo Jnr. has announced that the club aims to raise Le5billion to spend for the forthcoming Sierra Leone Premier League Season.

Navo made the announcement on Thursday at the club’s headquarters in Freetown. It comes just days away from the start of the new season.

“This season we will double our budget and raise more money. We have budgeted Le5billion for the club. We have already raised 30% of this amount,” he said during the press conference.

Sierra Leone drops to 118th in FIFA world rankings

Sierra Leone has dropped one place down from 117th to 118th in the latest FIFA world rankings.

Sierra Leone played two games in November, both were part of the 2021 Africa Cup of Nations qualifiers; it drew one and lost the other. Sierra Leone drew 1-1 in Freetown against Lesotho and lost 1-0 away to Benin. Dropping 4 points in the process.
