Sierra Leone U-20 brace up for decider in WAFU tourney

The Sierra Leone U-20 national team, Shooting Stars are bracing up to face Guinea this evening in the WAFU U-20 Championship.

Shooting Stars put in a stellar performance on Tuesday evening against Mauritania to come from a goal down and blew away their opponents 3-1 by the end the second half.

Bo Rangers striker, Suffian Kalokoh led the team to the win with his second half hattrick. He is already the top goal scorer in this tournament, with four goals in two games.

SLFA insists on holding three congresses despite criticisms

The Sierra Leone Football Association (SLFA) has said they will go ahead with plans to hold three separate congresses despite criticisms from some members of its members.

“FIFA has set the road map and we have an obligation to go strictly by that, we cannot boycott that and do something else. It will be like disregarding what is in the road map. So we have no option but by all means to hold all the congresses,” Head of Media at the SLFA, Ibrahim Kamara, told Politico in an interview on Tuesday.

Sierra Leone defeat Mauritania 3-1

On Tuesday evening, Bo Rangers striker Suffian Kalokoh came from the bench to take the game by the scruff of its neck by scoring a hattrick to beat Mauritania 3-1.

The U-20 national team, Shooting Stars were playing their second game in the ongoing WAFU U-20 Championship in Guinea.

Shooting Stars lost 4-1 to Senegal in their opening game of the tournament over the weekend.

“Respect, respect, respect.” This is Jose Mourinho’s famous meltdown rant after his Manchester United side was thrashed 3-0 by Tottenham at Old Trafford last year.  

On that August night, as he repeated the lyrics of a popular Lucky Dube song, he waved three fingers in the faces of the journalists saying: “Do you know what was the result? Sierra Leone Premier League Board budgets Le 8 billion for new season

The new Chairman of the Premier League Board, Allieu Vandy Koroma, has told Politico over the weekend that they need Le8 billion to run the 2019/2020 Premier League season.

Koroma said more than half of this money will go to clubs as seed money.

“Over half of the Le8 billion is for subsidy because we really want to build the clubs,” he said.

Leone Stars Head Coach, Sellas Tetteh has been left under a growing pressure following a 1-1 draw with Lesotho in Freetown on Wednesday.

Sierra Leone travels to Cotonou to face Benin on Sunday in match day two of the 2021 African Cup of Nations Qualifiers.

Lesotho is the least ranked team in Group L. Leone Stars were expected to at least beat Lesotho in Freetown and get a draw against Benin away.

Sierra Leone Sport Minister justifies 43-man football dele to Benin

The Minister of Sports, Ibrahim Nyelenkeh has said some members of the 43-man delegation travelling to Benin will be paying for themselves. Nyelenkeh made the clarification to Politico on Thursday evening following concerns about the size of the delegation travelling with the national team.

20 of the 43 people in the delegation are officials, these include 9 team officials. Among the list are names like Billy Parkinson, Alie Kadar and Charlie Bio whose inclusion have raised questions.
