Kei Kamara backs Sierra Leone football captain

Sierra Leone International, Kei Kamara has backed Leone Stars captain Umaru Bangura (Zaingalay) following his last gasp penalty miss against Lone Stars of Liberia on Sunday.

Zaingalay 31, who put in a solid performance over the two legs against Liberia missed the penalty on Sunday that could have seen Sierra Leone drawn in the next phase of the 2022 World Cup qualifiers.

Kamara wrote on his Facebook wall and Twitter consoling Zaingalay and showing his solidarity.

Sierra Leone's Koroma makes debut for Spanish side

Sierra Leonean winger, Alhassan Koroma has made his debut on Sunday for second division side in Spain, Real Balompedica Linense.

Koroma who was signed in July on loan, became the first Sierra Leonean to ever play for the club. Over the weekend Linense played to a 1-1 away to Merida.

Koroma was very instrumental in the just concluded Sierra Leone Premier League.  He helped his team East End Lions win the title unbeaten.

Sierra Leone left to climb a mountain in World Cup qualifier

Sierra Leone National team, Leones Stars have a difficult task ahead of the m on Sunday following their 3-1 defeat in Liberia on Wednesday evening.

 Both teams were playing the first of two legs of preliminary World Cup qualifiers. The team with a better goal difference will progress to the second phase of the qualifiers were they will be drawn with 39 other countries in ten groups of four.

Liberia v Sierra Leone: the battle of the fringe sides

One year since Sierra Leone played Ethiopia in Addis Ababa, the team will be out again in the outskirts of Monrovia to take on Liberia.

Leones Stars absence from the international scene was not a sabbatical but rather a punishment for what FIFA saw as government’s interreference into football. The country has used this long absence wisely.  This long stand in the cold meant they could press the reset button and start all over again.

The Sierra Leone Embassy in Liberia say they are yet to be contacted regarding arrangements for the Liberia versus Sierra Leone game in Monrovia next week.

The game a preliminary qualifier for the 2022 World Cup in Qatar with hundreds of Sierra Leoneans fans currently preparing to travel to support national team, Leone Stars.

Marampa Stars midfielder joins team in Spain

Former Marampa Stars midfielder, Alhassan Koroma has joined his new team, Real Balompedica in Spain.

The third division team signed Koroma almost two months ago whiles he was on loan to East End Lions. Details of his contract have not been disclosed by Marampa Stars or Balon.
