Three major Sierra Leone Premier League football clubs go down!

Shock waves have swept through Sierra Leone’s football landscape after three Premier League clubs, Kamboi Eagles, East End Tigers and FC Johansen got relegated over the weekend.

It was a final day of anguish for players, officials and supporters of the clubs especially Kamboi Eagles who will play Division One football next season- the first drop by the club since 1956.

Bo Rangers crowned Champions of Sierra Leone

Bo Rangers were on Saturday handed this year’s Sierra Leone Premier League Trophy by SLFA President Thomas Daddy Brima at the Southern Arena on Match day 34. They beat Bai Bureh Warriors 3-0 .It’s the second consecutive clinching of the Champions  trophy by Rangers.

 Chairman of Bo Rangers Babadi Kamara said he wants Bo to be the Hub of football.

“We are determined to continue winning the Sierra Leone premier league.I took over as fan club chairman, and this is how far we have come as a club’’, a delighted Kamara said.

Sierra Leone FA punish club for fielding “unqualified” players

The Sierra Leone Football Association (SLFA)  and the Premier League Disciplinary and Protests Committee have awarded all three points to Wiberforce Strikers Club and three goals at the expense of Freetonians SLIFA who were found guilty of fielding two “unqualified” players in the match   against Wilberforce Strikers on the 8th July, 2023.

Sierra Leone gets 1st female Sports Minister

The second list of appointed cabinet ministers has seen Augusta James Teima become the first woman Sports Minister of Sierra Leone.

Her appointment was confirmed in a press release from the Secretary to President Julius Maada Bio the president released the list of appointed ministers on the 15th July, 2023.

She replaces Ibrahim Nyelenkeh who according to many members of a popular Sports Whatsapp forum did well during his tenure as sports minister.

Sierra Leone FA to construct artificial turfs nationwide

The Sierra Leone Football Association (SLFA) has entered into a contract with a Dutch- based Company, Edel Grass for the construction of artificial turfs in several playing fields across Sierra Leone.

The artificial turf construction project was made known to the public through the association’s twitter account on the 11th July, 2023.

Babadi resigns as Team Manager for Leone Stars

Influential football personality Babadi Kamara has resigned from his position as Team Manager of Leone Stars. He confirmed his resignation in Salone Players’ Watch (SPW) – a Whatsapp platform.

Reasons for Kamara’s resignation have   not been immediately made public but it is likely to get the rumour mill in motion. He however personally denied on SPW, assumption that his action could be linked to him taking up political office in the near future.

Buses expected for support Sierra Leone football league

The President of the Sierra Leone Football Association (SLFA) Thomas Daddy Brima says his administration has applied for two 36-seater coaster buses to support the league in the country.

He made this statement during the annual SLFA Ordinary Congress which commenced on the 4th and ended yesterday 6th June, 2023 at the Radisson Blu Hotel in Freetown.
