Malcolm FC are Champs

Malcolm Football Club were crowned champions of the 2013 Central One Football Association (COFA) non-division league on Sunday 22nd September when they defeated Same Face FC on post game penalties, after a 1-1 full time score.

Same Face took the lead in the 75th minute after a swift cross from the right opening the way for Ralph Williams to head home from close range.

Sierra Leonean cyclist off to Ivory Coast

A delegation of the National Cycling Association (NCA) has left Freetown by road for the Ivory Coast to take part in the 20th edition of the tour of Ivory Coast which has been described as the Tour of Reconciliation.

Team Captain Moses Sesay told politico that he was prepared to face the competition in the Ivory Coast, noting that his performance in past competitions will see him through and assured the nation that his team will bring home medals.

Premier League fixtures remain

The Sierra Leone Football Association (SLFA) says the premier league will stick to its existing fixtures.

In a press statement issued on 18 September 2013, the FA Secretariat says that "despite the overtures, meetings and attempts to reconcile with clubs and stakeholders, it would appear that some members of the football family remain adamant and as such have restrained their respective clubs from participating in the current ongoing league."

WAFA bans community league

The Western Area Football Association (WAFA) has banned the Eastern Best Soccer Promoters (EBSP) inter-community league which resulted in the deaths of two people last Saturday.

Speaking to Politico, the WAFA Scribe, Kasho Holland-Cole said the EBSP did not inform them about the start of their league, which he said constituted disrespect for WAFA.

Central Derby…Same Face vc Malcolm FC

A community derby is set for this weekend in the Central One Football Association (COFA) non-division league final with Same Face FC taking on Malcolm FC on Sunday 22September at the Parade Grounds.

While both teams are from the central community, Malcolm FC have been impressive in youth football in the central area. They won the under-17 and under-12 categories in the Craig Bellamy Foundation (CBF) league last season.

Magazine Community hold Belgium Sellers to a draw

Belgium Sellers were held to a 1-1 draw by Magazine Community at the opening match of the Central One Football Association (COFA) inter-community league at the Parade Grounds in Freetown.

Alieu Kargbo of Belgium Sellers opened the score line in the 35th minute after a brilliant build up from the midfielders. Magazine Community fought hard in the second half and finally got an equalizer in the first five minutes of the second half when Musa Kamara unleashed a 25-yard shot to score from a rebound ball by Million Sesay.
