Turay Promises to Clean-up Football

One of the aspirants for the presidency of the SLFA, Foday Ibrahim Turay, has told Politico Sports in an exclusive interview that he will restore sanity to Sierra Leone football if elected. Turay said he will "reconcile the differences within the football family and recognize the importance of every member irrespective of tribe, religion or political affiliation’’.

SLFA screens candidates ahead of August poll

The acting General Secretary of the Sierra Leone Football Association Abdul RahmanSwaray says all candidates in the forth-coming elections would appear before the FIFA Normalisation Committee today to be screened to determine their eligibility to participate in the elections.

Swaray described the screening as "an integrity test based on FIFA regulations, SLFA rules and possible petitions from members of the football family and the wider public".

Female Volleyball Players Depart Today

Female National Volleyball players will depart Freetown today with a ten-man delegation to take part in the Confederations of Africa Volleyball (CAVB) qualifying series in Senegal.

According to Francess Lansana, a player, they have been training for the past few weeks and are in the right frame of mind to qualify in Dakar and be part of the finals in Italy. “We are looking forward to this competition to develop our skills” said Lansana.

LSPC on ‘Get the First Step Right’ Workshop

The Local Sports Promoting Committee (LSPC) at Wilberforce yesterday 15th July started a two day workshop on the theme ‘’Get the First Step Right’’ at the Manley Hall Regent Road Wilberforce.

Deputy Minister of Sports Ishmail Al-Sankoh Conteh, who was also the guest speaker, told the gathering that at community level it was vital to upgrade the youths because  the problems that affect them remains the setting up of community teams to end situations where teams are owned by one person.

Swimming Championship Ends

The Sierra Leone Swimming Association (SLSA) ended a one day swimming championship at the national stadium swimming pool over the weekend.

Swimmers from across the country took part in the event which attracted dignitaries from various sporting disciplines.

In the 50 meters Free Style Osman Kamara came first, second was Moriss Beale and third Sahr James. In the women 50 meters Free Style Ruth Turay was first and second Binta R. Jalloh.
