MAYOR KEMOKAI SHOULD WITHDRAW HER DEBT COLLECTORS

We wish you a Merry Christmas in advance our smiling Mayor Kemokai of FCC. Please don’t go home to the UK this year to enjoy a white Christmas. Stay with us in this “transformed Freetown” so that we can all enjoy your output over the last FOUR YEARS. We will come to that in one of our last editions for this year. For now we have something else on our mind.

CORRUPTION SCANDAL ROCKS EUROPEAN UNION PARLIAMENT

It is almost like one of those movies about corruption in an African country that we are used to now. Yes, it is about corruption but the allegations are centered on the heart of European politics – the parliament of the European Union. A handful of arrests have been made, MEPs stripped of their privileges and, according to reports, a sack full of raw cash found in a hotel room.

COCAINE SHIP INTERCEPTED OFF THE COAST OF SALONE

There’s a lot of talk about cocaine along the coast of West Africa – a suspicious shipping container arrives in Freetown, arrests in Guinea, Liberia and Sierra Leone, extraditions  from Sierra Leone to Liberia and now a report that the French Navy intercepted a Brazilian ship with cocaine on board.  What’s going on along the coast people? Have the cartels of South America suddenly found a short and open route to the lucrative market of Europe for their cocaine?

FCC MAYOR HAS LOST HER WAY WITH STREET BEGGING

In her early days in office our Smiling Mayor Kemokai tried to do something about the hundreds of beggars on our streets especially those near the Cotton Tree in central Freetown. That project showed a few signs of success but quickly went into oblivion. Four years on, Smiling Mayor Kemokai has completely lost control of whatever she initiated – the people are still around the Cotton Tree, in fact their numbers have increased.

WHEN IS THE NEXT LAND RAFFLE MINISTER TURAD SENESSI?

Good Morning Dr. Turad Senessie of the Ministry of Lands. We are looking for an answer to the question above. We asked this question immediately after the last raffle that gave hundreds of ordinary people two plots of land, each in one of the new settlements in the Freetown Peninsula. Some of them told us they couldn’t believe this was happening in the real world, at least the world of the people in this Land that we Love.
