By Ishmael Bayoh Two of Sierra Leone’s hottest rappers, Kao Denero and LAJ are once again whetting the appetites of hip-hop fans, collaborating with recognised international artistes for their album launch slated for the festivities of April, 2013. The two rap artistes are, by all indications, dominating the rap scenesin Sierra Leone and have made the arts graduate into beefing sometimes with unsavory attacks against perceived rival squads. Kao calls himself the King of Salone hip-hop,taunting and causing injuries to several other rap artistes now gone underground while LAJ refers to himself as the Boss or Boss LA. The sense of supremacy is creating a feud between LAJ’s Red Flag Movement, RFM and Black Leo of Kao. In other to counter LAJ’s claim of being the boss, Kao in recent months released a hit single calling himself‘Boss of the Bosses’. But the US based guy did not relent as he released pictures of himself and freestyle rapper Cassidy in a photo shoot. There is a collaboration song now in his album slated to be launched this coming April. As if proving their worth, Kao’s album launching will be at the National Stadium main bowl on April 6, 2013 while that of LAJ is on April 27, some 21 days later. To sustain the heat in the air, Kao released another single calling it ‘Africa No.1.’As if that was not pungent a blow enough, from his Atlanta base in the USA, he landed in Kingston, Jamaica to collaborate with the Jamaican dance hall icon, Busy Signal.The result was a track titled:‘Ghetto Struggle’ which will be part of his new album‘Back To My Root’. This was what he posted after his return from Jamaica: “Wata wae na for u nor go ever run pass you. Was God bin don write am nahin book. Brand new song dropping soon. The zeal for featuring more foreign artistes has refused to go, it seems, thus an RFM post on the wall of LAJ reads: “Dis na big time gossip, I mean congosa!!!! Leh I suck teeth them baTwwwwwwwwwwww”. However, Africell is partnering with Kao’s Black Leo to launch the album on April 6. This is the second time the mobile company is partnering with the rap group.the first was years back when the stadium was jam packed. Busy Signal Glendale Goshia Gordon was born in St Ann Parish living in areas in West and East Kingston such as Tivoli Gardens, Papine, and Spanish Town. Known as one of the artists leading the contemporary dancehall movement, Busy Signal has been a large part of the scene since 2003. His first hit single, "Step Out", was one of the most popular dancehall songs in 2005. A music video for "Step Out" was released shortly afterwards. He was nicknamed Busy Signal by his friends because of the fact that he is constantly busy. His hit tracks for 2007/2008 were "Nah Go A Jail Again", "Smoke Some High Grade", "Tic Toc" and the track entitled "Unknown Number" has made tremendous airplay and dancehall reviews especially in the Caribbean and the US. He has released a hit dancehall album entitled Step Out. On 22 September 2008, Busy Signal released his second studio album titled Loaded, a 15 track compilation on VP Records of well-known dancehall hits such as "Jail", "Whine Pon Di Edge", "These Are the Days", among others, as well as never-heard-before exclusive tracks such as "People So Evil" and "Hustle Hard". The artiste announced the introduction of a self-styled clothing line in 2011. On 21 May 2012, Gordon was arrested at the Norman Manley International Airport in Jamaica due to an extradition Warrant from the US. He was extradited to the US on 19 June where he faced cocaine-related charges. In September 2012 he received a six month prison sentence. He was released in November, and promptly released the single "Come Shock Out". BBC Music ranked Reggae Music Again #7 on their Top 25 Albums of 2012 listing. Busy Signal appears on the No Doubt album, Push and Shove, collaborating with the band and the production team Major Lazer on the title track
