The Young Men Sports Club (YSC) has secured a place in the final of the Sierra Leone Basketball Association (SLBA) 2013 playoffs, awaiting the winner between Kennedy Nets and Cannon Royals, to be played May 10, at the basketball arena of the national stadium.
Kennedy Nets Henry Thomson spoke of his delight at reaching this peak in playoffs and looked forward to his team booking a place final against their arch rivals YSC. “They normally claim to be superior but they are not, we are better than them, we will win the championship when we reach the finals’’, he bluffed.
Osman Conteh of Cannon Royals said they will put up a strong display to face YSC because they are confident of eliminating Kennedy Nets.
For his part YSC's James Thomas believes they have what it takes to win the championship. “We have better players than any other club in this competition and they are well exposed in Basketball” he said.
Eight teams took part in this year’s playoffs to grab a place in the 2013 league season of the SLBA. They include Young Men Christian Association (YMCA), Cannon Royals, Kennedy Nets, and Young Men Sports Club (YSC).
