Authoritative sources at the ministry of defence have intimated Politico that four of Sierra Leone's six Brigadiers-General and 21 junior-ranking officers are to be discharged from the force. The sources say the reasons range from professional misconduct to having been due for retirement after passing the age of 55 years which applies in the case of the military. When contacted, Defence Minister, Major (Rtd) Pallo Conteh would neither confirm nor deny it saying only that there would be a press conference on Monday 3 June. Those to be retired include Brigadier General Komba Mondeh. © Politico Online (01/05/13)
