Crucial Matches this Weekend

Six crucial matches are scheduled for this weekend across the country in the Sierra Leone Premier League. After 39 games so far, 71 goals have been scored.

Actions begin today with Mighty Blackpool going all-out to lift themselves from the relegation zone against visiting Bo Rangers who are coming fresh from a 2-1 home win against Wusum Stars on Monday.

In Kenema Kamboi Eagles will host FC Kallon who arrived from Cameroon on Tuesday after honouring their first leg preliminary round fixture where they lost 1-0 to Union Douala in the CAF Confederation Cup.

Kallon’s Coach Charlie Wright told Politico that he was confident of securing a win but hastened to say that they would not relent to maintain their current form in the league.

A win for the host will see them climb two steps up the League table to fifth position. “We may be coming from a 1-0 away defeat to Diamond Stars in Kono, but we are sure of putting up a fight,” said Coach Mustapha Kai Samba.

Coming from a win in their last match with Kissy All Stars, Old Edwardians will on Saturday try to consolidate their form against Gem Stars of Tongo, who are visiting after losing 2-1 at home to Central Parade FC.

Premier League leaders, Diamond Stars, who have won all their home matches, could bet to win against Kissy All Stars, who held East End Lions to a 1-1 draw on Wednesday.

In the northern region Wusum Stars are worried over their home match against FC Johansen who have gone a record 28 games unbeaten in all competitions. The Makeni side lost away to Bo Rangers and must therefore ensure total control of this young side who can take a mile if given a yard.

On Sunday, Central Parade and East End Lions will lock horns.
