One of the aspirants for the presidency of the SLFA, Foday Ibrahim Turay, has told Politico Sports in an exclusive interview that he will restore sanity to Sierra Leone football if elected. Turay said he will "reconcile the differences within the football family and recognize the importance of every member irrespective of tribe, religion or political affiliation’’.
Turay said the development of football can only be achieved collectively with a well defined programme and noted that “the building of fundamental and basic administrative, financial and technical management structures backed by a strong, disciplined and visionary leadership will help move the game forward”.
Asked about the status of footballers in the country he replied ‘’we need to develop our players so that we can get the best out of them in collaboration with strong clubs that have established management structures".
Turay promised to decentralize and empower the regional and district football associations, put good corporate governance in place to achieve transparency in dealing with the public.
