Anti-Corruption Commission, ACCnorthern region has held a routine “customised meeting” with staff of Plan-SL in the region at their 63 Magburaka Road office in Makeni.
Programme Coordinator Plan, Abdulai Jalloh who chaired the meeting, expressed delight and maintained that they were willing at all times to receive ACC and therefore pledged their support to eradicating corruption.
He noted that the ACC has a critical role to play in the development of the country, particularly in ensuring that programmes implemented by NGOs are fully and successfully carried out by contractors.
Articulating the rationale for the engagement, Public Education Officer, Fatmata Finda Bangura, said it was meant to enlist Plan–SL into the fight against corruption.
She furthered that the Commission has resolved to eradicating graft in all sectors but would require the support of all to reject, resist and report corruption.
It came out that corruption offences in the ACC Act 2008 are adequately covered insofar as they relate to the activities of NGOs and INGOs under Section 1(n) which defines a ‘public body’.
